The UK’s largest vape trade association says the government now has its “biggest opportunity yet” to create regulations to support smoke-free targets.

The UK Vaping Industry Association (UKVIA) is poised to make a major announcement to outline its vision for the regulation of the industry in post-Brexit Britain.

It will set out its “Blueprint for Better Regulation” on Monday ahead of the government’s forthcoming review of the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations.

The UK government is currently reviewing the effectiveness of the regulations and an open consultation into how well the TRPR is achieving its objectives closes next Friday (March 19).

The UKVIA described the current review as “a key test of the government’s regulatory independence post-Brexit” and said it was an opportunity that was not to be missed.

A spokesperson for the organisation told Vapouround:

“The review of the regulations represents a defining moment in the history of the vaping industry, one of the leading market disruptors in the 21st century responsible for a significant decline in smoking across the UK.

“It also presents the biggest opportunity yet for the British Government to create vaping regulation that supports its 2030 smoke free target and ensures the sector can make a bigger contribution to the nation’s public health and economy in the future.”

John DunneDirector General at UKVIA, Andrej Kuttruf, CEO at EVAPO and Damien Bove, Chief Regulatory Officer at Adact Medical, are all due to speak at Monday’s announcement.

We will have full details of the UKVIA announcement on Monday.
