With a potential ban on disposable vapes looming, The UK Vaping Industry Association (UKVIA) has announced the launch of a new online information hub designed to provide vapers with information on recycling.
John Dunne, Director General of the UKVIA, said in response to the proposed ban:
“Firstly, disposable vapes are proven to be hugely effective in getting smokers to switch from their habits.
“They are the main reason why smoking is currently at record low levels across the UK.
“In addition, through the collective efforts of a range of stakeholders, we can reverse the current impact on the environment arising from vapers throwing them away.”
Alongside this new resource hub, a UKVIA campaign – titled ‘Sustainable Vaping Week’ – will kickstart on the Monday 16th October following International E-Waste Day on the 14th October.
The organisation hopes that both the hub and campaign will encourage vapers, the vaping industry, and retailers across the country to ‘act now for the benefit of the environment’.
Vapers will be provided with information on the ‘dos and don’ts’ of recycling single-use vapes as well as being offered various locations where they can correctly dispose of their devices.
Additionally, pubs, clubs, and other outlets will have access to download free educational resources in a bid to help companies educate their customers on the importance of recycling.
Hopefully the ‘Sustainable Vaping Week’ campaign will surpass expectations and encourage vapers and retailers to recycle year-round, all the while with a helping hand from the UKVIA.
